Alison Evans' writing advice

Photo of author Alison EvansAlison Evans shares how they finish writing a book even when they’re really stuck.

  1. If you’re writing on a computer, switch to pen and paper. If you’re writing with pen and paper, switch to a computer. It’ll move different parts of your brain.
  2. Get a big piece of paper and do a mindmap, write down any words that come to you when you think about your story. Find the connections. You might find something you hadn’t thought of before.
  3. KEEP GOING!!! Your first draft is allowed to be bad. It’s allowed to be the worst thing in the world. But once you have that first draft you can start editing it and making it good.
